I am Conquering Cradle Mountain to Beat MS!
My name is Sarah and to look at me you wouldn’t think I had anything wrong with me. With no warning signs at all, at the age of 39,
in 2008 I was, diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Some of the symptoms that I'm afflicted with are Optic Neuritis (eye sight), drop foot (walking), speech impediment (Dyspepsia) numbness/ pins and needles, the last relapse I lost my ability write and draw. Also I lost my ability speak so I had to learn how to speak again.
I exercise daily to keep fit and healthy, which helps to keep these symptoms at bay.
Since I’ve had MS I've completed three City2Surf, three Blackmores Running Festivals (Bridge Run), two Hill to Harbours, two Lake Macquarie Running Festivals and one Sydney Harbour 10km. I had the honour of doing two trips with MS Australia - Walk the Wall to Fight MS and Trek the Larapinta Trail to Fight MS , this will be my 3rd time raising money for MS
Conquering Cradle Mountain to Beat MS
My motto is: “I have M S ……but that’s not going to bloody stop me”
Multiple sclerosis is the most common disease of the central nervous system and it strikes young people in the prime of their lives.
There is currently no known cure.
It's quite staggering that multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other neurological condition, with the average age of diagnosis just 30 years old. Every case of multiple sclerosis is unique – the symptoms, severity and progress of the disease are different for everyone.
So I’m trekking through the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area and traversing sections of the Overland Trail to raise funds to deliver essential MS support services and ensure no one faces MS alone.
Please DONATE now to support my trek and give hope to thousands of Australians living with multiple sclerosis.
Thank you for your support.
