I am Conquering Cradle Mountain to Beat MS!

Multiple sclerosis is the most common disease of the central nervous system and it strikes young people in the prime of their lives.

There is currently no known cure.

It's quite staggering that multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other neurological condition, with the average age of diagnosis just 30 years old. Every case of multiple sclerosis is unique – the symptoms, severity and progress of the disease are different for everyone.

So I’m trekking through the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area and traversing sections of the Overland Trail to raise funds to deliver essential MS support services and ensure no one faces MS alone.

Please DONATE now to support my trek and give hope to thousands of Australians living with multiple sclerosis.

Thank you for your support.

My Updates

Only a month till Xmas Eve

Thursday 25th Nov
It is supposed to be mid spring and we are experiencing a rollercoasting of weather here in Melbourne. It is rainy some days and clear others. It has made training out in the real world difficult.
I have slacked off a bit in my training and have not done as much as i usually woudl have been. I have to admit, I need to re focus my energy into my training again.
I am excited for the clearer days so that i can hit the trails and get those feet moving.
with Gym classes completely re open in my area, I need to brave going back to one of the classes. First time is always the hardest. I have been at home for so long doing online sessions, i am a little nervous going back to face to face classes.
I guess this is a Watch this Space post.

Thursday 19th Aug
I like to start my blogs with a title in caps lock because I am constantly in shock at how quick this year is going!

I had my 2 daughters birthday this month (no parties due to lockdowns) and took up personal zoom PT classes.

Does anyone else find that they cannot work out if their Apple Watch is not charged?? I have had a few days where I have skipped a workout because I forgot the charge. A workout doesn't count if I can't track it for the socials!

I am so beyond grateful to everyone who joined me for my Bunnings Virtual Sausage sizzle! WHAT a FUN eVeNt!
we raised over $250! I have also smashed my $3000 goal which was such a feel good moment.
When i got a text from the fundraising team, i may have gotten Goosebumps and a little teary.

My training is getting more intense and stepping up a notch. I am going to the gym most night during the week now, which is fun. Trying different classes and really building up that fitness.

It has been really good for my not only my fitness but my mental health throughout these lockdowns. When the gyms are closed, i have been accessing online classes which are amazing.

Again, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU

Well July disappeared!

Tuesday 3rd Aug
Goodbye July!

July is gone, and fundraising went well with some amazing donations from friends, work mates, and family!

I am so lucky to know you all.

We also went into lock down 5.0. This put a halt to my gym sessions and put restrictions on leaving the house.
I didn't train as much as i woudl have liked to, but with restrictions lifting at the end of July i am back at the Gym and back into my preparations.

See you all in August!

End of June

Monday 28th Jun
Well howdy folks,

It's the end of June, End of the financial year. I have had a huge boost in donations as people get those tax deductible donations in.

I have secured, not one, not two, but THREE Bunnings sausage sizzles. I have a lot of reading to do to figure out how to run them, and rope in volunteers to manage the days. They run from 8am to 4pm, so big days. I am super excited to secure these days as they are a lot of fun and who doesn't love a Bunnings snag!!!

I have done 0 hiking this month. Purley due to lock downs and weather. I have bought my back packs and a few weather appropriate gear for the trek, which I am ready to give a go out on a hike. Now to get all my ducks in a row and have the weather hold off, kids to be taken care of, and lock down to hold at bay so I can hit the ground.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, i truly greatly appreciate it!!

May we please have a productive month

Tuesday 11th May
It's now May! Where has this year gone???

I am back into my training and got bitten by the exercise bug again. I slacked off a bit there and stopped training as hard as i had been.

It's hard to be motivated when it's cold, you want to snuggle up on the couch and watch futurama (our current show). BUT no excuses. Time to get into the swing of things and get moving.

I am still doing my Zumba and Booty classes, I have missed a few, but last night i went even though my friend cancelled. Which usually i would not go as well. So it's the small decisions that lead to a good habit.

Lets get this done!

On To April we go!

Tuesday 20th Apr
I have had some great training this month.
Getting into the gym for my regular Booty Class and Zumba, keeps my fitness levels up.
I have had a few mini h8ikes with the kids, but am due for some bigger hikes in the coming months.

I was told by someone who did Cradle Mountain, that the best way to get fitness ready, is to go up. He clarified that finding hikes with incline, and doing them over and over, gets you ready and prepared. He said he found the long walks, and the riding etc that he was doing, was good, but he saw a big change in his fitness when he started climbing the mountain at the back of his house. So advice taken, I'm going to go find a hill to climb as practice!!

Watch this space!!

it's now March

Wednesday 10th Mar
I am now into March and I am $630 into my Fundraising. I have done it all online through FB and all friends and family. I am forever grateful at how generous everyone can be!!
I had a bit of a mishap in my training, I took off on an early morning ride and ended up with 2 flat tires. So now I need to re thinks my training until I can get them fixed.
I am going on a small hike this weekend with the family, just to stay healthy and active.
I am still getting to the gym twice a week, and hopefully in the coming weeks the new treadmill will arrive!
Here's to an active March!!

Thank you to my Sponsors
